A man's desperate attempt to flee from the cops ended with a slew of charges after he was busted for smashing into police vehicles in Seattle. The chaos unfolded when an employee from a nearby business spotted a man stripping a vehicle on the 5000 block of 15th Avenue NW and called it in, Seattle Police Department reports.

Officers arriving at the scene around 4:30 p.m. were greeted by the suspect, who upon noticing the law enforcement presence, took an aggressive turn of events trying to escape by taking the vehicle on a sidewalk, mangling a nearby planter and missing several tents, and after ignoring several orders to stop, he rammed into an RV and a pair of patrol cars and then he sped away, according to the police account.

The police were aided by a witness who provided a description of the suspect: a white male in his 50s, stocky build, somewhere between 5’6” and 5’8”, donned in a black jacket and tan pants. The tipster also connected the man to a series of recent mischiefs in the area.

A diligent witness alerted the authorities roughly a week after the incident, leading them to a 35-year-old male who matched the provided suspect description back at the scene, this time the officers didn't let him slip through their fingers, his attempt at anonymity thwarted by prior surveillance footage and an alert community member.

The vehicle in question, previously reported stolen, had been impounded days earlier, adding to the evidence pile against the suspect. He now faces charges including assault, malicious mischief, eluding police, possession of a stolen vehicle, along with existing outstanding felony warrants. Seattle Police have also sought additional charges for driving with a revoked license and possession of vehicle theft tools, as they booked him into King County Jail.
