Tuesday night in the Chinatown International District turned dicey when cops cuffed a duo in a stolen car, one packing heat. The Seattle Police Department scored a double arrest – a 37-year-old man for illegal gun possession, and a 30-year-old woman for the stolen wheels, according to the SPD Blotter.
West Precinct patrol officers out on a routine beat at around 6:11 p.m. on South King Street hit pay dirt when they spotted the suspicious ride. Running the plates, they quickly confirmed the vehicle to be hot. The officers to move in with caution, nabbing the suspects in a neighborhood restaurant: the woman behind the wheel, and her partner, a man, armed with a handgun.
The man wasn't a stranger to law enforcement – his rap sheet already highlighted by a warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm. "Records revealed the male suspect had an outstanding warrant for unlawful possession of firearm," the blotter publication notes. Proving once again that when you're wanted, maybe, just maybe, it's a poor form to still be toting a gun around town.
It didn't take long for the cuffs to click and the pair to get a ride downtown. Both suspects were booked into King County Jail faster than you can say "miranda rights." And in a small win for the streets of Seattle, one less gun and stolen vehicle to worry about tonight. The two will soon have to face the music – their new accommodations come courtesy of King County’s finest housing, cell block edition.
