Soaring Above the Windy City, FlyOver Brings Thrilling Aerial Ride to Chicago's Navy PierSource: Flyover

Chicago is set to elevate its touristic experience quite literally with the arrival of "FlyOver," an immersive flight ride touted to be a sky-high escapade over the city’s iconic landmarks. According to NBC Chicago, this high-tech attraction will open its doors at Navy Pier on March 1, offering a “multi-sensory experience” that plays out on a massive 65-foot spherical screen.

The ride is no small feat, sprawling across 48,000 square feet, and it's emerging as a modern marvel replacing the former IMAX theater at the pier. FlyOver promises an engulfing storyline using aerial shots and first-person narratives. Adding to the realism, seats will swoop, dip, and turn, giving visitors the sensation of flying through Chicago’s architectural wonders and natural beauty as reported by NBC Chicago.

Constructed to the tune of $40 million, FlyOver Chicago will stand across from the Chicago Children's Museum and aims to breathe new life into an already vibrant spot. WGN TV revealed that sensory immersion will be dialed up during the journey with wind, mist, and even scents culminating to simulate the thrill of flying past the likes of the Chicago Theatre and North Avenue Beach.

Lisa Adams, COO and Executive Producer of FlyOver, highlighted the desire to showcase the city's spirit, "Through this immersive storytelling experience, we wanted to capture the rich diversity of Chicagoans, their resiliency, and the vibrant neighborhoods that weave the fabric of such an exceptional city," she said in the release obtained by WGN TV. Meanwhile, for those eager to snag a spot aboard this aerial adventure, tickets are starting at $24 a pop.

The ride will feature prominent local figures like musician Corey Wilkes and Wrigley Field’s PA announcer Jeremiah Paprocki to narrate and elevate the experience, drawing visitors into the heart of what makes Chicago tick. This latest development marks the fourth of its kind for Pursuit, which operates similar attractions in Las Vegas, Iceland, and Canada, inferring that FlyOver Chicago is poised to join the ranks of must-see attractions in the city's tourism portfolio.
