The city is launching a contest to officially name one of their workhorse snowplows and residents are invited to submit their "punniest" and most "snow-tastic" ideas, according to an announcement made yesterday on the city's website.
The search for the perfect name started today, January 8, and anyone looking to get in on this frosty fun has until January 28 to turn in their entries. Once the city's public works staff sifts through the submissions to pick their top 10 favorite names, the power will shift to the public to ultimately vote and decide which moniker sticks. The winning entry is set to be announced on February 8, 2024, ready to adorn the specified snowplow for the world to see—or at least, for St. Louis Park's snow-laden streets.
Bragging rights aren't the only prize for the wordsmith behind the winning moniker. The individual or team who coins the chosen name will have the exclusive chance to "personally add this name to the snowplow, take a photo with the snowplow and crew, and ride in the plow," either around the city or for a special school trip, as long as it’s within the confines of St. Louis Park.
Residents interested in throwing their hat in the snowy ring can submit their ideas via the form on the city’s official contest page. The deadline closing in just a couple of short weeks.
