The tense showdown in Milford, Massachusetts reached its peak when police, after a standoff, arrested 26-year-old Generoso Daniel in connection to the heist of Aroma Brazil, a local butcher shop, as reported by NBC10 Boston. Daniel, along with two other suspects, allegedly robbed the store at gunpoint last week, making off with approximately $16,000.
In an operation described by Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino, officers were to initially monitor a multi-unit building before taking Daniel into custody. Tusino relayed, “There were a bunch of people in the building that had nothing to do with the incident but we thought these other participants were there and certainly we thought there were firearms,” The neighborhood was essentially put on lockdown, with streets closed and residents like Ti Ferrelli instructed to shelter in place. “My brother called me and he goes ‘I just looked out our bathroom window and there’s a police officer in the neighbor’s yard next door with a rifle’,” Ferrelli recounted to NBC10 Boston.
As of this sequence, a second suspect, Lucas Morreira Fontenelle of Framingham, has been arrested at a Holiday Inn Express following surveillance and investigation, as per details disclosed by CBS News Boston. This leaves one more accomplice at large. The authorities have declined to comment on what specific charges Daniel and Fontenelle will be facing.
During the operation, a SWAT team was called in to ensure control, as reported by WCVB. "I see a guy with a riot shield up," said Ti Ferrelli, sharing the unnerving experience to WCVB. Moreover, Milford Police are to now earnestly request the public's assistance in tracking down the remaining suspect.
The department has emphasized confidentiality for those who may come forward with information, as noted by Hoodline.
Additionally, another armed robbery took place on Monday, raising concerns of a possible connection to the Aroma Brazil incident, although police are currently not indicating a direct link.
