An iPad thief's run from the law came to an end thanks to citizen tips and a tight-knit law enforcement effort. In its Facebook post, the Irvine Police Department announced the arrest of Andrew Michael Standridge, a 33-year-old San Clemente man, who was nabbed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Organized Retail Crime Task Force in Costa Mesa.

Standridge's capture followed a public appeal by Irvine PD on January 12, when they took to social media with a #FelonyFriday post seeking information on the suspect involved in a spate of iPad thefts at Target stores. "We received multiple tips from the community, and our Detectives immediately started looking for the suspect," said Irvine PD in their follow-up announcement.

Following the community response, investigators were quick to act information got shared with counterparts across Orange County, and beyond the raid in Costa Mesa led to Standridge's arrest and booking at Orange County Jail on multiple charges.

The cooperative success of the various law enforcement bodies underscores the power of community partnership in bringing alleged criminals to justice, "Thank you to the community and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for assisting us with this case," the Irvine PD expressed their gratitude in a statement. The suspect's electronic heist series has come to a halt as the law catches up to the digital age's banditry.
