An 18-year-old male has been pressed with serious charges following a November 2022 armed robbery, according to the Chicago Police Department. The juvenile, whose identity remains protected due to his age at the time of the crime, is facing a felony count each for armed robbery with a firearm and kidnapping while armed with a firearm.
The suspect's run from the law came to an abrupt end on Friday when he was apprehended by the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. Per the authorities, the juvenile was nabbed on the 8400 block of S. Racine Ave. It's alleged that he was one of the individuals who back in November, at around 6:30 a.m., forced a 25-year-old man to go to the 300 block of W. 83rd St. at gunpoint and proceeded to rob him. The Chicago Police Department reports the victim was taken from a location within the jurisdiction of the 6th District.
Following his arrest, the teen was promptly charged and is expected to face the Chicago juvenile legal system. He's due for a detention hearing at the Juvenile Court located at 1100 S. Hamilton on the date of publication of this dispatch.
The police have not yet released publicly further information about the circumstances that led to the November armed robbery or the subsequent arrest. They have, however, confirmed that no other persons are being sought in connection with the crime at this time. The community eagerly awaits to find out how justice will be parsed out for the crimes allegedly committed by one of its youngest members.
