Chaos erupted in a North Miami neighborhood when a dispute turned deadly, leaving three men dead and a community shaken. The incident took place outside an apartment complex on the corner of Northeast 123rd Street and Fifth Avenue, as confirmed by NBC Miami. According to the report, police responded to the scene just after 4:15 p.m. to find the victims with fatal gunshot wounds.

Officials have been tight-lipped about the identities of the deceased, but at the scene, Kassandra Rivera told NBC Miami, "One's my uncle, and two are my cousin." Adding to the horror of the fatal shooting, Rivera could only describe the altercation as "some neighbors or something dispute." Major Kessler Brooks of the North Miami Police Department indicated that thankfully, the situation didn't escalate further, "It was a busy residential area with kids and everyone around. We thank God it wasn’t worse."

Newly obtained bodycam footage by 7News captures the frantic aftermath as responding officers discover the gravity of the situation. One officer is heard saying, "I’m not getting a pulse on him," speaking to the urgency as they assessed the victims' conditions. The suspect, identified as Pierce Hoempler, claimed it was an act of self-defense. "I tried to avoid it as much as I could, man. Then his sons showed up," Hoempler said.

The police arrested Hoempler, who remains in jail at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, charged with three counts of second-degree murder. Hoempler described to the police the confrontation leading to the shooting, "Maintenance kids pulled up and started rushing me... Then they started swinging, and I had no choice." Despite his claims, North Miami Police found all victims unarmed, which has raised questions about the true nature of the incident. The further details of the initial encounter remain under investigation.
