The Atlanta Hawks have good news as their star guard, Trae Young, is back on the court after clearing the concussion protocol. Young was sidelined for two games following an elbow to the face during a tussle with the Cleveland Cavaliers last Saturday. As per FOX 5 Atlanta, Hawks coach Quin Snyder confirmed that Young would be on normal minutes restriction typically given to a player coming off concussion absence.
"He feels he’s ready to go," Snyder expressed, indicating there's a plan to "ease him back in," in a statement obtained by USA Today. Young, who currently dominates the team with an average of 26.9 points per game and holds the second rank in the league with 10.8 assists per game, had been sorely missed. Interestingly, the 25-year-old made his mark on January 15 against San Antonio by becoming the 10th-youngest player in NBA history to hit the 10,000 career points milestone, an accolade hinting at both talent and youthful vigor.
While Atlanta gets their ace back, the Dallas Mavericks face their own roster challenges. Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving will miss his second game in a row due to a sprained right thumb incurred during a game against Boston, according to a statement obtained by USA Today. The Mavericks will be without forward Maxi Kleber as well, sidelined with toe soreness, along with center Dwight Powell who is out with a left eye corneal abrasion.
