In a heartfelt display of community spirit, over 100 volunteers joined forces this weekend in the Twin Cities, braving the chill to lay out a blanket of warmth for those in need. The "scarf-bombing" event, organized by the altruistic crew at One Good Deed, marked its seventh year by decking out four parks across Minneapolis and St. Paul with an array of cold-weather necessities. The group, anchored by founder Michelle Christensen, dispersed jackets, scarves, gloves, hats, boots, and blankets among Loring Park, Cedar Avenue Field Park, Kellogg Park, and Rice Park, offering them up freely, with no questions asked, as per CBS News Minnesota.
"It's a pull of kindness that's just so lovely to rest within,” explained Christensen, reflecting on the outpouring of support that saw more than a hundred people unite in the cause, which, in prior years, had been a smaller scale effort requiring just a single bus to shepherd volunteers between two parks. This time around, the event amassed enough volunteer power and donations over three months to compile and hand out a substantial total of 525 bags brimming with winter gear, according to CBS News Minnesota
The initiative's "no strings attached" philosophy ensures no one is left out in the cold. "There is no way to say thank you enough for their generous gifts of love and human compassion given today,” stated One Good Deed's Facebook page.
