Two 17-year-old males have been charged by the Chicago Police Department with aggravated vehicular hijacking, officials said. The teens allegedly carjacked a 16-year-old boy at gunpoint last December in Chicago's Southwest Side. The incident took place in the 4400 block of S. Lawler Ave, within the confines of the 8th District.
According to a statement released by CPD, the two offenders were arrested on January 10, 2024, after they were identified as the culprits behind the audacious daylight crime. One suspect was apprehended in the 2900 block of W. 47th St and the other in the 7200 block of S. Francisco Ave. They are both facing a felony count of vehicular hijacking with a firearm - a serious charge that underscores the violent nature of the theft.
The carjacking occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m. on December 30, 2023, when the victim was confronted by the assailants wielding a gun. The offenders then made off with victim’s vehicle.
