In a move that keeps a key figure of American soccer on home turf, Miles Robinson has inked a deal with FC Cincinnati, leaving Atlanta United where he spent the nurturing years of his MLS career. As reported by Atlanta News First, Robinson, Atlanta United's first-ever draft pick and a solid rock in their defense, will now sport the Orange and Blue after etching his name in the history books through 150 appearances with the club.
Robinson's journey with Atlanta was more than just a stint; it was a saga of growth that saw the defender become a cornerstone not just for the club but also for the U.S. Men’s National Team. Yet, despite the glimmers of international interest, he's taken the road less traveled and decided not to ply his trade on European soils, contrary to the speculations linking him with the likes of PSV Eindhoven and VfL Wolfsburg, as FOX Sports reported.
Returning to the pitch post a serious injury that kept him from shining in the World Cup in Qatar, Robinson's domestic switch comes with a contract for the 2024 season with a club option for 2025. "This is an amazing organization from top to bottom, and I will do everything in my power to win more trophies for the passionate fans and outstanding people of this city," Robinson stated, setting the stage for his debut at TQL Stadium, and addressing his commitment to the FC Cincinnati faithful.
FC Cincinnati, not to be mistaken as just the Supporters Shield winner last year, is evidently striving to bolster its backline, linking Robinson with fellow USMNT defender Matt Miazga – a duo that could spell trouble for opposing forwards in the MLS. In a season brimming with expectations, the club looks geared up for their continental quest starting off against Cavalier FC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup next month, before a calendar highlight reel that includes a trip to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on April 20.
