Washington County is calling for community members to step up and volunteer, driving local veterans to their essential medical appointments. Washington County Veterans Services announced the need for drivers to operate vans provided by the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), making sure those who served our country can access the Veterans Administration (VA) healthcare they require, according to a recent release.
The service is invaluable and completely free for the veterans. Volunteers, who choose to give their time, will be trained by the VA. They have the flexibility to drive as frequently or infrequently as suits their schedules. The county has made parking available for two DAV vans, one at the county Government Center in Stillwater, and another at the transit center in Forest Lake, the statement from Washington County detailed.
