
A domestic dispute turned deadly on Chicago's South Side when a woman was fatally shot at a local business. The violence erupted Monday afternoon and ended with her death and a man in custody, said Chicago police.
The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. at a business on the 4800 block of South Ashland Avenue, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Responding officers found that a 31-year-old man had pulled out a handgun and fired at an 33-year-old woman, striking her in the head and chest.
The woman was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Details regarding the nature of the dispute have not been disclosed, and the identity of the victim has yet to be released.
Following the shooting, which occurred at the EZPAWN pawn shop according to CBS News Chicago, the suspect was apprehended at the scene. Charges against the man were pending late Monday, and a handgun was recovered by investigators.
