
In a tragic turn of events, a woman lost her life while crossing a street in Forsyth County, Georgia, after being hit by a vehicle Monday night. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office reported that the middle-aged woman, adorned in dark clothing, was traversing Keith Bridge Road near Freedom Parkway when she met her untimely end, as noted by FOX 5 Atlanta.
The unfortunate incident unfolded around 8:30 p.m. when a Dodge Caravan, operated by a 57-year-old man from Cumming collided with the victim as she crossed the road moving from the Waffle House/Ingles to the QT in an area described as poorly lit, the driver halted immediately following the crash, reports The Georgia Sun.
Authorities stated the driver of the Dodge Caravan remained at the scene and has so far not been charged, though an investigation into the incident is still active. The name of the deceased has not been released pending notification of her next of kin, and details surrounding the circumstances of the crash are expected to become clearer as officials continue their probe.
The sheriff’s office has not disclosed whether any new measures to improve road safety and lighting conditions on Keith Bridge Road will be implemented as they continue investigating the precise factors that led to this fatal crash.
