An argument in a Southwestern Atlanta store turned violent early this morning, leaving one woman with minor injuries after an altercation escalated to gunshots. The incident occurred at around 2:53 am when a female patron tried to step in and calm a dispute at 1695 Prior Rd SW, but instead found herself in the crosshairs, officials said.
The female victim, who managed to escape serious harm, was caught up in a scuffle after attempting to intervene in a heated exchange between an agitated customer and a store clerk. According to the Atlanta Police Department's report, the situation quickly deteriorated when the other woman turned combative, leading to a fight that spilled outside the establishment.
The suspect allegedly drew a firearm and began firing toward the victim, reports the Atlanta Police Department. The targeted woman sought refuge behind her car and, fortunately, was not struck by the gunfire. Amid the chaos, the only injury she sustained was a broken fingernail. The suspect, alongside a male associate, fled the location before law enforcement arrived on the scene.
As of now, the authorities have launched a full-scale investigation into the harrowing close call. The Atlanta PD has expressed its commitment to unraveling the circumstances that led up to the confrontation, and their efforts to apprehend the suspect are ongoing.
