Last night's commute turned tragic in San Marcos as a deadly car crash claimed the life of a young man. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that a 2019 Subaru Forester collided with a blue 2022 Porsche around 6:30 PM on Eastbound W. San Marcos Blvd. near Discovery St. in the City of San Marcos, leaving the Subaru overturned and its 26-year-old driver dead.
First responders arrived quickly to the horrific scene, only to find the Subaru resting on its roof with its wheels in the air. Attempts by deputies to free the young man were unsuccessful, and it wasn't until San Marcos fire crews and paramedics came that they were able to extricate him. However, their efforts were in vain as the driver was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly thereafter. Alcohol has been ruled out as a contributing factor to the crash.
The ongoing investigation, spearheaded by the San Marcos Traffic Unit, is looking to unravel the cause of this fatal encounter. The Medical Examiner’s Office plans to release the identity of the deceased, along with the exact cause and manner of his death, once his family has been properly notified.
Authorities are calling on anyone who might have information about the tragic incident to come forth.
