A tragic rollover crash on a busy I-95 off-ramp in Georgetown claimed the life of one person, leaving multiple others injured yesterday morning. In a grim account of events, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at Route 133 around 11:15 a.m. where they encountered an overturned SUV and a sedan with deployed airbags.
First responders arrived to find a chaotic scene, with two vehicle occupants ejected onto the roadway. According to Boston 25 News, two off-duty nurses and an off-duty firefighter who happened to be in the area were already providing medical assistance to the injured. Despite the swift aid, one of those hurled from the SUV was declared dead after being taken to an area hospital. The identity of the deceased has been withheld pending family notification.
The Georgetown Fire Department reported that alongside the fatality, three others sustained injuries in the accident. As per a statement from The Boston Globe, the SUV's additional occupant and the driver—sole occupant of the sedan—were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
The investigation into the cause of this fatal incident is ongoing, with the Massachusetts State Police leading the efforts.
