A teenager's night out on the streets of East Boston turned criminal when the 17-year-old was busted for an alleged armed robbery on Maverick Street, police said.

According to reports from the Boston Police Department, the incident occurred on Monday night around 8:07 p.m. when officers from District A-7 were called to the scene of the crime. The victim had just pulled cash from an ATM when, the perp allegedly whipped out a knife and demanded the dough, the victim recounts. A description went out over the airwaves, and, cops say they didn't have to look far — the suspect was still on the ATM's doorstep.

In the cold night, where breath turns to vapor and fears can often hide in the shadows, the officers approached the suspect, who they purportedly found lounging in front of the cash machine. A subsequent search led to the discovery of the knife, which was tucked away in the young man's jacket, authorities detailed.

"Upon further investigation, officers placed the suspect into handcuffs, and recovered a knife from his front jacket pocket," the Boston Police Department stated in a briefing. The unnamed minor now faces serious charges including; armed robbery, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon to wit knife.

This brush with the law lands the teen an unwanted date in Boston Juvenile Court, where he'll answer to the hefty allegations that could change the course of his young life.
