A tragic turn unfolded in Richmond, New Hampshire as a 31-year-old woman, missing since Thursday, was found dead after an exhaustive search through dense woodland. According to the Boston Globe, the woman, whose identity was withheld until her family could be notified, was discovered by New Hampshire Fish and Game officials in critical condition on Sunday morning, only to succumb to severe cold weather injuries later that day.
Last seen on Thursday afternoon leaving her home, the woman's disappearance sparked a search that culminated near her residence, approximately one mile into the woods. Braving sub-freezing temperatures that dipped into the teens overnight, a K9 team ultimately located her nearly three days later. Wrapped up in a tragic fate, the woman was reportedly found at around 10:45 a.m., as noted by an announcement from New Hampshire Fish and Game.
The rescue effort saw her being carried on a litter to Route 119, where she was then airlifted to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. Despite emergency medical treatment and a flight for life arriving at roughly 11:35 a.m., officials say that she "did not survive her cold weather injuries," as mentioned in a statement from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
