Phoenix streets became the scene of a tragic end to one life and the start of a reckoning for another last December. As reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, 31-year-old motorcyclist Katerina Penrose sustained serious injuries from a hit-and-run on December 14 that led to her death in the hospital. After an extensive investigation, Phoenix PD have their suspect in cuffs. According to their announcement on February 4, the driver believed to be responsible, 73-year-old Paula Miller, has been arrested, facing multiple charges, including fleeing the scene of a deadly accident.
The deadly collision occurred near Thunderbird Road and Point Golf Club Drive, as detailed by AZ Family. Investigators pieced together the tragic evening, citing how Miller's car took a left turn right in front of Penrose's motorcycle, which resulted in the fatal swerve and crash. Rushed to aid the injured Penrose, officers arrived at the scene to confront the aftermath of this sudden violence against the unsuspecting rider. AZ Family cites the collision happened around 5 p.m., a time when the roads bristle with homeward-bound traffic.
As the investigation continues, authorities are encouraging the public to step forward with any additional information. Opening doors to insight, those with eyewitness accounts or relevant footage are urged to connect with police in a united effort to fully clarify that December day's events. Not only for the investigators but for the community that holds its breath, seeking closure in a narrative too often repeated on America's roads.
