
An 82-year-old driver was taken to the hospital after her SUV barreled into Mickey's NY Pizza Restaurant in Hudson, New Hampshire, causing significant structural damage and leading to the closure of the business. WHDH reported that the incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday, with police and firefighters finding the elderly woman trapped inside her vehicle within the confines of the pizza shop.
Though the restaurant was occupied at the time of the crash, miraculously there were no reports of injuries among the patrons or staff inside, by contrast, the driver, who required extrication from her crumpled vehicle by the jaws of life, was subsequently transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, where she is being treated for injuries described by authorities as non-life-threatening, as relayed by Hudson Police, the crash happened after the driver lost control of her SUV while navigating south on Lowell Road, which spurred the accident.
The business, a local fixture serving up slices and pies, now sits in limbo as the damage is assessed and repairs are pending. Customers looking to grab a quick bite will have to wait as the shop's doors are shuttered for the foreseeable future.
