
A midday clash at a Chicago Starbucks turned violent Wednesday when a conversation between two men escalated into a stabbing, sending both parties to the hospital. The Chicago Police Department reported that officers arrived at the scene on the 200 block of South Michigan Avenue in the Loop neighborhood at 2 p.m. following reports of a man armed with a knife.
During an argument at the local coffee shop, a 46-year-old man allegedly stabbed a 52-year-old man multiple times in the head and arm. The Chicago Sun-Times stated that the older man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was listed in good condition. The attacker also wound up in the hospital in good condition with a cut to his hand and was taken into custody by the police.
Details about what specifically sparked the argument were not immediately clear, but the altercation started verbally and turned physical when the younger man pulled out a knife, according to information from the WGN-TV report.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect sustained a laceration to the right hand during the incident. Both men received medical attention, and there have been no further updates on their conditions since they were reported in good shape.
