The Arizona Humane Society is upping its game with a brand-new facility at Papago Park, set to open on March 6th. After over six decades at its old stomping grounds in Sunnyslope, the nonprofit is taking the wraps off the Rob & Melanie Walton Papago Park Campus featuring cutting-edge amenities designed to rescue and care for animals in the Phoenix area, according to ABC15.
The new shelter, touted for its expanded public veterinary clinic and numerous specialized units, is looking to increase trauma care for animals by 25% and find homes for 24% more dogs and cats, making a significant dent in providing for the state's most at-risk four-legged friends, BNNBreaking reported. Among its standout features is the Watts Family Medical Complex and the Lazin Animal Foundation Trauma Hospital, which is dedicated to expand and enhance care for animals that have suffered from trauma and abuse.
The move doesn't mean the end of the road for the Sunnyslope location, which is transitioning into a veterinary clinic focused on spay and neutering services, while its Marge Wright Public Veterinary Clinic will continue its operations, expanding public veterinary services, ABC15 announced. Furthermore, the site boasts of specialized care centers like the Doris Norton Kitten Nursery Unit, the Withycombe Family Mutternity Suites and the innovative Meowternity Suites for expectant and nursing felines.
Also brewing at the new campus is the Echo Coffee Shop, partnering with the Humane Society by donating a slice of its sales, 1% to be exact, back into the nonprofit's pocket lining the coziness of the Jamie L. Middleton Lobby with a community touch that goes beyond pet care, BNNBreaking said. An addition well worth mentioning is the Suzanne Pearl Family Serenity Garden, providing a tranquil space for final goodbyes, a subtle yet pivotal element in the comprehensive tapestry of animal care.
