It has been a year to the day since tragedy struck a quiet street in Arlington, Texas. Ali Ismail, a hardworking father of seven and devoted husband, was mercilessly gunned down outside his own home on Prentice Street. Visibly shaken family members and a community still in disbelief mark this grim anniversary with a plea for closure.
Arlington Police are using this date to remind the public that the perpetrators remain at large and to once more reach out to anyone who might have information. The circumstances, as they unfolded that fateful morning, saw Ismail returning from an overnight shift only to be fatally shot by one of two suspected burglars, according to the Arlington Police Department. The assailants had been attempting to break into a vehicle in Ismail's driveway when their paths fatefully crossed. The suspect fired the deadly shot and subsequently fled the scene.

In a concerted effort to quickly apprehend those responsible, authorities released surveillance videos showcasing the suspects. Despite this and the diligent pursuit of each tip provided by the public, detectives are yet to identify Ismail's killer. "Detectives have followed up on every tip we've received -- but unfortunately, we have not been able to ID his killer," stated the Arlington Police Department.
The police ardently believe someone out there holds the key to unlock this case, and they've persisted in reaching out to the public to find this pivotal piece of the puzzle. "We believe someone out there knows who killed Mr. Ismail -- and we need them to do the right thing. His family deserves that," as per the Arlington Police Department. A community's outrage and the family's inconsolable grief could to some extent be assuaged should justice find its way home.
Authorities urge anyone with information about the murder of Ali Ismail to come forward. Tips can be directed to Det. Jason VanTreeck at (817) 459-5691 or Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at (817) 469-8477. A family waits, the public watches, and the Arlington PD continues its search for closure.
