The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) has announced a series of road closures and traffic pattern switches as part of the ongoing Interstate 30/SH 360 Interchange Project in Arlington. This $233 million initiative is reaching its final stages, aiming to enhance regional mobility with a set target of substantial completion by the end of this year.
A specific disruption for local drivers includes the closure of an I-30 westbound entrance from SH 360/Six Flags Drive, set to take place nightly between February 12 and 15, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for painting operations. "EXPECT DELAYS," warns the City of Arlington, Texas, as traffic will be detoured to a subsequent entrance ramp from AT&T Way/Baird Farm Road.
Several traffic switches were also noted as already in effect, including the I-30 westbound main lanes moving to their permanent location between Great Southwest Parkway and Ballpark Way as of November 22, 2023. TXDOT cautions drivers to "WATCH FOR NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN" in these areas.
Arlington is working to mitigate traffic congestion through a partnership with Waze, encouraging drivers to download the navigation app to find optimal routes and avoid road closures. As infrastructure improves, with enhancements such as the addition of new ramps like the I-30 eastbound exit to SH 360 southbound anticipated to be completed by March 21, 2023, and the opening of permanent entrance and exit ramps across the interchange, the daily commute is set to become smoother for Arlington motorists.
