Residents of Atherton's Fletcher Drive are on high alert after a brazen burglary shattered the suburban peace Wednesday night when suspects forced their way into a home by smashing a rear window, The Atherton Police Department reports that the crime occurred at approximately 9:08pm, with the perpetrators still at large and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime yet to be recovered. The break-in has triggered an ongoing investigation, and authorities are calling on locals to scour their home surveillance feeds for any trace of the suspects.
As the tight-knit community grapples with unease, law enforcement urges vigilance and offers a litany of safety tips: from the mundane but essential act of locking doors and windows to the adoption of light timers and motion-sensor exterior lighting, the goal is clear—deter any future uninvited intrusions.
The Atherton Police have appealed to the public through a statement on their official website, requesting anyone with information to step forward and contact them at 650-688-6500.
