Atlanta is on the watch as thieves targeted two clothing stores in separate burglaries, with the latest incident striking Virginia Highland's Ecstatic store. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the suspects, captured on surveillance video, made off with shoes and apparel from the local business located at 1060 St. Charles Ave. The footage showed multiple individuals breaking in and swiftly stuffing merchandise into bags before making their getaway on Feb. 27. Atlanta police are urging anyone with information to come forward and have announced a reward of up to $2,000 for tips leading to an arrest.
Less than two weeks earlier, on Feb. 19, another heist took place. Two suspects were recorded by surveillance equipment as they burglarized A Ma Maniere on Marietta Street Northwest. Video evidence depicts them forcefully entering a room and grabbing several containers filled with valuable wears. Then, they were seen breaking into the building, triggering alarms, and exiting with the stolen goods. The same perpetrators are believed to have hit the establishment again on Feb. 23, with losses amounting to approximately $15,000 in clothing, as WSBTV reported.
The continued rash of brazen burglaries in Atlanta's retail sector has prompted investigators to appeal to the public for assistance. Atlanta police are asking anyone who can identify the suspects from the videos or provide any relevant intel to contact Crime Stoppers. This gesture by law enforcement signifies the growing need for community involvement in combating retail theft which has become all too common.
