Atlanta's boutiques are under siege by stealthy thieves, with the Atlanta Police Department now working to track down a cadre of burglars following two separate heists at upscale clothing stores. The thieves have proven not only audacious but persistent, targeting A Ma Maniére on Marietta Street NW not once, but twice in a single week.
The first burglary occurred on Feb. 19, with the criminals returning to the scene of the crime to again forcefully help themselves to another haul of luxury wears on Feb. 23, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. Altogether, the burglars made off with $15,000 in merchandise. The stolen goods include European-inspired men's streetwear and high-end sneakers, items that command a premium in the fashion-conscious corners of the city.
Despite the severity of the thefts, the authorities have yet to describe the suspects, leaving the public with little to go on as they appeal for leads. Anyone with information can confidentially reach out to Crime Stoppers Atlanta. In an effort to draw out information, a reward of up to $2,000 is being offered, a sum that requires no exchange of personal details from the tipster, merely the crucial information needed to apprehend the thieves.
The rash of burglaries extends beyond A Ma Maniére. A recent break-in at a business on 1060 St. Charles Avenue NE saw suspects abscond with an assortment of clothing and footwear. The Atlanta Police have not publicly linked this crime to the A Ma Maniére heists, but the parallel nature of the burglaries suggests an unsettling pattern. WSB-TV Atlanta provided coverage of the conspicuously similar crime, mirroring the concern that these thieves may be part of a larger network striking at the city's retail heart.
Investigators have made a call out to the community, urging any witnesses or anyone with knowledge about the burglaries to step forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously by contacting the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477), visiting their website, or by texting CSA and their tip to CRIMES (274637). The continued spate of bold daylight burglaries poses a direct challenge not just to the businesses affected, but to the fabric of law and order within the city.
