As Austin enjoys another day of warm weather with highs creeping into the unseasonable 80s, residents should brace for a sharp change in conditions. Patchy morning fog will give way to mostly cloudy skies and a high of approximately 88 degrees with south winds around 10 mph. However, these balmy conditions are not set to last, as a strong cold front is forecasted to sweep through early Wednesday morning, signaling a drastic temperature drop, according to the National Weather Service.

The aforementioned cold front is poised to make its presence felt with temperatures predicted to tumble to around 55 by 9 am on Wednesday. "Strong winds will follow the cold front in with gusts likely to reach 30-40 mph Wednesday morning," as reported by KXAN

As nighttime falls, the city will see mostly cloudy skies with a low settling around 48 degrees, as the north northeast wind demonstrates its might with gusts as high as 25 mph. Come Thursday, the forecast hints at a 20 percent chance of showers post 1 pm under overcast firmament, with an anticipated high near 58. The NWS advises that while some scattered light rain showers will follow Wednesday's cold front, many areas may remain untouched by rain and those that do get wet will not see much with rainfall totals expected to be under 0.10 inches.

The fleeting showers make their curtain call before Friday's dawn, ushering in partly sunny skies and a significant climb back to a comfortable high near 79. South winds will ensure a smooth transition, softly blowing at 5 to 10 mph by morning. After sundown, the skies will clear mostly, hosting temperatures around 57 degrees, where south winds will remain gentle yet persistent throughout the night, as stated by the National Weather Service.

Weekend weather promises to hold onto the milder side with mostly sunny and partly cloudy conditions dominating, as Austinites can expect highs in the 80s.  "Warmer weather will follow for the weekend with both Saturday and Sunday in the 80s." Steady south-southwest winds during the daylight hours will complement the optimistic forecast with continued above-average temperatures heading into the new week, as per KXAN.
