In an emotional outcry for justice, Joseph Fonseca, the victim's father, told NBC Miami, "When I see his picture it hurts," Joseph added, "They took him from me, It is not right, I want to see those guys in jail.” According to the devastated father, his son had intended to meet two unknown men on the night he was murdered; the family believes Fonseca was targeted. Heartbroken, the father expressed his profound loss, stating, "I lost the love of my life."
