A road rage altercation on a Michigan highway turned violent when a 25-year-old Belleville man allegedly unleashed gunfire on I-94, according to police reports. Authorities arrested the man after he reportedly fired shots at another driver's vehicle during the rush that followed a heated exchange on Thursday, Feb. 22.

Sources from ClickOnDetroit detailed the events leading up to the incident, stating the conflict originated in Saline, where the suspect purportedly cut off a 42-year-old Manchester man on Michigan Avenue. The altercation escalated as the vehicles entered I-94, with the suspect tailgating and waving a gun at the victim's vehicle, the victim attempted to elude the aggressor by speeding off.

The situation intensified when the Belleville man, whose gun was legally registered but carried without a concealed permit, fired at the Manchester man's car, striking it twice but fortunately not resulting in any physical injuries, as per the reports from MLive. In an attempt to escape, the suspect's vehicle careened out of control and crashed, subsequent to which he fled the scene on foot.

Following a brief manhunt, Washtenaw County sheriff's deputies apprehended the suspect, according to WILX News 10. He now faces charges including felonious assault, reckless discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony firearm. Authorities recovered both the gun and shell casings from the chaotic scene.

The incident prompted the closure of eastbound lanes on I-94 between US-23 and Rawsonville Road for several hours, causing a significant interruption to the afternoon traffic flow. The victim, having survived the perilous confrontation unscathed, was not available for comment.
