Bloomington, Minnesota's shiny new Fire Station 4 has been recognized with an Award of Excellence from the Minnesota Construction Association, as per the City's official website reports. The accolade acknowledges the construction success of the recently completed firehouse at 4201 West 84th Street.
The honor was bestowed upon the fire station, which officially commenced its operations on August 1, 2023, and has since been swift to respond to nearly 1,400 emergency calls. One standout incident occurred just blocks away from the premises, where the crew were able to rescue two individuals with disabilities from a perilous blaze. According to Bloomington's assistant fire chief, Jay Forster, captured in an interview, both victims were saved and made a full recovery, highlighting the station's community impact.

Designed by CNH Architects and constructed by Terra Construction, the 25,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility boasts three truck bays, office space, a training room, and living accommodations equipped with health and safety amenities for firefighters. Terra Construction's project executive, Ben Newlin, praised the Bloomington city representatives for their fiscal responsibility and thoughtful decision-making throughout the project's development to meet local needs.
Fire Station 4 replaces a predecessor that stood for over five decades. Bloomington authorities identified the need for refurbishment and after conducting a space needs study, put Station 4 at the top of their priority list. The station now stands as a testament to the community's commitment to supporting the city's safety infrastructure and the dedication of the personnel who worked tirelessly to ensure that the project would serve its residents well into the future.
The Minnesota Construction Association (MCA), a nonprofit that provides networking, recognition, and educational opportunities within the construction industry, granted this recognition to the fire station project after Terra Construction submitted it for award consideration.
