The tense scene unfolded at Nova High School in Davie where authorities descended on the premises located at 3600 College Ave around noon, briefly turning the educational facilities into ghost towns as police canvassed the buildings.
According to a report by WSVN, the neighboring Nova Middle School was also cleared out, police asserted caution, in case the threat encompassed more than one target. Aerial footage captured from 7Skyforce showed students grouped on the school's athletic fields as officers patrolled the entry points.
"All students and staff are safe, and the school is following proper protocols," a spokesperson for Broward County Public Schools assured in an email to Local 10 News. The specific nature of the threat, and details regarding its delivery, however, have not been disclosed to the public.
