Boston streets saw action this past Sunday as B-2 District officers from Roxbury clamped down on activities deteriorating the area's quality of life, leading to the arrest of a local man on drug charges. During their patrol around Roxbury and Washington Streets, police observed a suspect, Ronnie Powell, engaging in behavior that they suspected to quickly involve drug transactions.
The officers witnessed Powell, aged 38, getting into a vehicle only to exit moments later and enter another car. It didn't take long for the law enforcement to switch on their emergency signals and to decisively pull over both cars in separate traffic stops. According to their statement, one vehicle was stopped on Moreland Street where a substance believed to be crack cocaine was retrieved from the driver.
The second vehicle was halted by the officers at Dudley Street and Pevear Place, where Powell was asked to present his driver's license. Boston Police reported that upon failing to show a valid license, Powell was handcuffed while officers carried out a search, uncovering $981 and additional suspected crack cocaine inside the vehicle.
Resulting from the search, Powell was apprehended and hit with charges including possession with intent to distribute class B drugs, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The Roxbury dwellers now await his arraignment in the Roxbury District Court. As for the other stopped driver, they were slapped with a court summons for possession of class B substances.
