In a swift response to a reported break-in, Boston police officers collared a suspect in Charlestown, accused of burglarizing a storage unit. Glenn Robert Ghizzoni, 33, was arrested on several charges after officers from District A-15 swooped in on the scene at 50 Terminal St. on Friday afternoon, according to Boston Police Department reports.
With information provided by witnesses, the officers caught Ghizzoni as he was descending a stairway. Parked outside where the storage unit was, the man's vehicle contained the stolen items, recovered by the officers. He was charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime, receiving stolen property exceeding $1200, and possession of a class A substance, as confirmed by police statements.
Law enforcement officials say Ghizzoni broke into the same storage unit earlier that day, triggering a police response. His second attempt led to the arrest. "By creating a perimeter around the building and securing all entrances, our officers were able to apprehend the suspect," read a statement from the Boston Police Department.
Ghizzoni is expected to face the charges levied against him at the Charlestown Municipal Court. In the meantime, the local community is reminded to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities, as the quick actions of the witnesses were pivotal in making the arrest, the police emphasized.
