
Boston's state auditor, Diana DiZoglio, has tapped a seasoned health policy expert to serve on the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) Oversight Council. Dr. Alan Sager, a veteran professor with more than three decades under his belt at Boston University School of Public Health, will fill the role of the healthcare economist until September 30, 2025, as reported on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts official website.
With his tenure at Boston University, Dr. Sager has focused on healthcare finance, health regulation, and health services. His appointment is seen as a strategic move, bringing a depth of academic and practical knowledge to an organization tasked with making sense of the state's health data landscapes. 'Dr. Sager has utilized CHIA data in his classrooms to help teach the next generation of public health leaders, and now, in a full-circle moment, he is bringing his extensive skillset to CHIA,' DiZoglio said in her announcement on the Commonwealth of Massachusetts website.
Auditor DiZoglio expressed confidence that Sager's expertise will be invaluable in the ongoing efforts to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for the people of the Commonwealth. The vital role of CHIA includes collecting, analyzing, and disseminating health care information to support policy formulation and program development, and Dr. Sager's experience in the field is expected to enhance this mission substantially.
