A Brazilian national with a prior conviction for indecent assault and battery on a minor was handed his sentence for illegally sneaking back into the United States after being deported, federal prosecutors in Boston disclosed. Guilherme Pereira, 27, received a sentence of time already served, about six weeks, along with a year of supervised release after entering a guilty plea last September for unlawful reentry of a deported alien, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Pereira was initially booted out of the country in August 2018, following a conviction in a Massachusetts state court where he was found guilty on one charge of indecent assault and battery on an individual 14 or older and three charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. When he unlawfully managed to slip back into the U.S. borders, Pereira got arrested in January 2020, only to quickly find himself ensnared by the judicial system once more.
In response to the sentencing, Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy, together with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations Boston Field Office Director Todd M.
