The Windy City is bracing for a spectrum of weather conditions this week, starting with a sunny but breezy Sunday, the National Weather Service Chicago reports. Today's forecast promises clear skies accompanied by west winds ranging from 10 to 15 mph, with potential gusts reaching up to 30 mph.
The mild temperatures are set to gradually increase through the week, with highs climbing from a near 42°F today to a near 43°F on Washington's Birthday. By midweek, Chicagoans can expect mostly sunny skies and temperatures to warm up to the low 50s. However, come Thursday, the city should prepare to face potentially hazardous conditions for small craft on Lake Michigan, which are likely to persist until Saturday, according to the National Weather Service's Hazardous Weather Outlook.
Despite the chill in the air this morning, things are set to quickly warm up. The week ahead also poses no major weather threats on land, as per the National Weather Service's report, providing Chicagoans some respite from winter's usual icy grip. Monday night's forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies with a low around 32, while Tuesday will be sunny with a high nearing 48.
In line with these predictions, the National Weather Service's official X feed indicated that Chicago will steadily begin to feel more spring-like temperatures with each succeeding day through midweek. Despite this warming trend, the city may have to briefly endure some return to chill and wetness as "a chance for a little rain on Thursday" is in the mix. However, such gentle precipitation is far from the hazardous tempests one might dread from February in the Midwest.

Residents planning nighttime excursions should also note the cooler evenings, with temperatures forecasted to plummet to the high 20s and low 30s throughout the week. The weekend, however, looks promising with clear conditions and daytime highs making a comfortable ascent back into the low 40s.
