Law enforcement flooded into a Lauderdale Lakes neighborhood Monday, after a shooting left one person with non-life-threatening injuries, Local 10 reported. The area surrounding Northwest 38th Avenue and 29th Street was cordoned off, with both marked and unmarked Broward Sheriff's Office vehicles dotting the landscape as details of the violence remained murky.
Investigators homed in on a house where a vehicle sat in the driveway, according to the residents, their abode had been rattled by gunfire, neighbors confirmed something went down just after the witching hour, one was spotted across the street with its passenger side punctured and troubled radio inside.
Deputies canvassed the area, knocking on doors and seeking the stories of potential witnesses. The Broward Sheriff's Office has unleashed the Violent Crimes Unit to unravel their investigation ongoing and shrouded in the early hours of partial disclosures, as reported by NBC6.
A neighbor, stirred from sleep by the commotion, recounted the terror of the incident, admitting, "I got scared," he described the gunshot's proximity by its volume, it breached the serenity of his home and left its mark on a parked car, "I heard the shot and it was very loud so I thought it was close by," he told NBC6. As the neighborhood grapples with the unrest, the BSO remains steadfast in their quest to piece together the events that led to a community's rattle and a home turned crime scene.
