
The Broward Sheriff’s Office is ramping up efforts to find a 65-year-old woman who has gone missing under concerning circumstances in Tamarac. Gina Ortega, who requires medication for health conditions, was last reported being near the 8000 block of Northwest 78th Court around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, according to authorities.
At 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds, Ortega has black hair and brown eyes, and was believed to be driving her black 2012 Chevy Equinox, bearing the Florida license plate GDNV03. The Missing Persons Unit, having issued a statement late Thursday night, is turning to the community for any leads in a statement obtained by Local10.
Officials and Ortega's family are expressing deep concern because of her undisclosed health issues that necessitate medication. The BSO has launched a public appeal, urging anyone with information about Ortega’s location to come forward. In a pressing call for public assistance detailed by WSVN, Detective Chris Blankenship emphasized the urgency of the search.
Chris Blankenship, aware she may be disoriented without her medication, was reported to be driving her vehicle when she went missing, according to information mentioned in the press release. Family members are asking for the community’s aid to help bring Ortega home safely, highlighting the seriousness of her situation.
