
A Broward Sheriff’s Office sergeant found himself on the wrong side of the law after U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials nabbed him with drugs at Miami International Airport, per local authorities.
Bryan Vidal Lorenzo, 35, was arrested yesterday when he landed at the airport with suspicious substances in his bag. According to Local 10 News, police state that CBP officers discovered what they believed to be MDMA tucked away in the pocket of a pair of ski pants inside Lorenzo’s luggage. The find led to charges of possession, and the importation of a controlled substance into the state of Florida.
Lorenzo's link to the law enforcement community adds a level of irony to the incident,—"Sgt. Bryan Lorenzo was hired by the Broward Sheriff’s Office on June 3, 2013," said a BSO spokesperson in a statement obtained by Local 10 News. They also confirmed that Lorenzo was "placed on administrative leave without pay" following the event.
