The beaches of Carver County will no longer have the watchful eyes of lifeguards, a decision that has stirred varied reactions among local residents. Officials have determined that the beaches—which include Lake Minnewashta, Lake Waconia, and Baylor Regional Park—will not have lifeguard services going forward, according to Carver County Parks.
This decision came after a thorough evaluation of community feedback from an online form, the county has opted out of lifeguard services citing the park beach areas will operate under a "swim at your own risk" policy, visitors will have to rely upon their judgment and preparedness when diving into the waters beginning Memorial Day weekend, these locales will be open for visitors during park hours from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Despite the absence of lifeguards, officials urge the community to exercise caution and promise to issue reminders about water safety measures, as per Carver County Parks.
