Chandler City Council has locked in the dates for its 2024 Primary and General Elections, slated for Tuesday, July 30, and Tuesday, Nov. 5, respectively, as confirmed by a recent ordinance. This comes on the heels of a legislative shuffle, moving the Primary Election from its initial August 6 schedule.
Earlier in the month, Arizona’s own Governor Katie Hobbs inked her approval on House Bill 2785, making the move official. This year's July 30 Primary Election will decide the fate of three city council seats, and, should the need arise – a possible General Election runoff is penciled in for Nov. 5. For those contemplating a run, time is of the essence — candidate paperwork and signature petitions are due by 5 p.m. on April 1, without a minute to spare.
If you plan to cast a ballot in the upcoming primaries, you'll need to get registered by July 1. Don’t slack because the deadline for the General Election rolls around soon after, on October 7. Chandler's citizens with an Arizona driver's license or ID can easily register to vote or update their current registration on the Service Arizona website.
