Darnell Ingram, a 25-year-old from the 6600 block of S. St. Lawrence faces serious felony charges after police arrested him in connection with a violent carjacking incident on Chicago's South Side.

According to the Chicago Police Department, Ingram was slapped with one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, one count of burglary, and one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, loaded with no FOID (Firearm Owner's Identification Card). The accused allegedly accosted a 45-year-old man at gunpoint on January 28, 2024, forcibly taking his vehicle in the 500 block of E. 71st St. Tragically, during the confrontation, the victim was struck by a passing vehicle and sustained serious injuries.

The Vehicular Hijacking Task Force nabbed Ingram on February 13, a fitting prelude to his detention hearing on Valentine's Day, at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse at 2600 S. California. 

Upon capture, police discovered a weapon in Ingram's possession, corroborating their identification of him as one of the perpetrators involved in the heinous episode.
