A 17-year-old male has been slapped with a slew of felony burglary charges after a spate of break-ins and a car theft that occurred last November in Chicago's 24th District, authorities reported. According to the Chicago Police Department, the teen is accused of being involved in four burglaries targeting businesses all within minutes of each other, and his luck ran out when he was picked up by the cops on the 1100 block of S. Hamilton on February 6, 2024.
Detectives linked the juvenile to a vehicle stolen the same day as the break-ins, coming from the 7700 block of N. Eastlake Terrace, the stolen car was likely used as a getaway vehicle and the suspect was charged for receiving, possessing, and intending to sell the stolen car after the Chicago PD worked diligently to piece together the crimes that shattered the tranquility of a neighborhood not unaccustomed to such tales of woe. The accused was taken into custody without further details released about the circumstances of the arrest or his connection to the alleged crimes.
The Chicago police have been tight-lipped about additional details, merely confirming that charges have been filed as the wheels of justice begin to creak forward for the young man whose actions suggest a disregard for the law, the community, and the very businesses he purportedly penetrated in the dead of night. His juvenile status does little to soften the severity of the charges he must now face, four felony counts for burglary laying heavy on a life not yet fully lived.
