An 18-year-old from Chicago faces a felony charge after cops say she went on a fisticuff frenzy against another woman in the city's South Loop. Brianna Owens is accused of the attack, which occurred last month, with Chicago's Finest claiming she pounded a 26-year-old victim with a hail of punches to the cranium and torso.
The alleged beatdown took place on East Roosevelt Road around 9:30 p.m. on January 8, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The Sun-Times further reported that Owens was collared by police this past Tuesday, and she's now facing an aggravated battery in a public place charge following the pugilistic encounter. Officials are keeping her behind bars until a detention hearing slated for Thursday.
Over time, the specifics of the incident on the first block of E. Roosevelt Road have become clearer. Owens allegedly struck the woman with closed fists, an assault that yielded enough concern for the authorities to slap her with a felony count of aggravated battery, as detailed by FOX 32 Chicago. Cuffs were slapped on Owens, who remains in custody, earlier this week.
Details regarding the cause of the incident or the condition of the victim have not been made public as the legal process unfolds.
