A deadly dispute in a West Ridge neighborhood apartment claimed the life of a 42-year-old man early Monday morning. The Chicago Police Department has confirmed that charges are pending against a 39-year-old woman alleged to have stabbed the man during an argument.
The violent altercation that took place shortly spiraled out of control around 2:20 a.m. in the 6200 block of North Hoyne Avenue. According to police, the woman reportedly pulled a knife on the man amidst their heated exchange and inflicted a fatal wound to his abdomen. The Chicago Sun-Times detailed that responding officers discovered the victim critically injured in the hallway of the building.
Emergency responders rushed the man to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, but despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner's office subsequently ruled his death a homicide, as reported by the CWB Chicago. The identity of the man has not been released to the public at this time.
The circumstances behind the stabbing suggest a domestic dispute turned lethal. The victim was able to dial 911 before succumbing to his injuries and he informed the authorities about the woman's violent attack during his last moments. She was identified as the assailant by police who arrested her on-site. The ongoing investigation will likely offer further details as the case develops, shaping the narrative of this grim incident.
