Detroit's downtown dining scene is gearing up for a new player, the Chick-fil-A is set to open a new location inside the First National Building on Woodward Avenue near Campus Martius. According to Bedrock Detroit spokesperson, the chain known for its fried chicken sandwiches will launch this new outlet in May or June, as per the The Detroit News.

Slotting in beside Central Kitchen + Bar, the 3,500-square-foot space will represent Chick-fil-A's latest foray into the Motor City. A Chick-fil-A in Detroit Medical Center and several other metro locales are already serving up the chain's signature offerings. "That's the hub for retailers," said Jacob Sworski, manager of Iconic Real Estate overseeing the transaction, in a statement obtained by The Detroit News interview.

As reported by Detroit Free Press, Chick-fil-A's entry follows the opening of a Shake Shack, Central Kitchen + Bar, and Roasting Plant coffee shop already operational in the same building, owned by Bedrock. The downtown landscape continues to evolve with a Chipotle Mexican Grill also set to launch its first Detroit location this spring.

Proposals for new Chick-fil-A spots in Canton Township and on the Detroit-Grosse Pointe border have been met with traffic concerns from residents, as detailed by WXYZ. The new downtown establishment is expected to seat between 60 to 70 patrons, becoming a part of nearly 3,000 Chick-fil-A restaurants across the U.S. and beyond. Famed for closing its doors on Sundays, the chain remains a cult-like favorite amongst fast food aficionados.

Anchored in Atlanta, Georgia since its founding by S. Truett Cathy in 1967, the family-owned Chick-fil-A continues to enjoy high customer satisfaction ratings, topping the American Customers Satisfaction Index's report for nine years in a row. Their sandwiches, served fried or grilled with a side of Chick-fil-A sauce, have cemented the chain's popularity amidst ongoing critique over various issues.
