Austin residents can expect to see clouds dominating the sky today with temperatures reaching a comfortable high of about 73 degrees, as reported by the National Weather Service. Despite the overcast conditions, there's little chance of rain during daylight hours. But don't pack away those umbrellas just yet. By tonight, there exists a 20 percent chance of showers after 3 a.m., with the cloud cover keeping the lows around a mild 61 degrees.
Looking forward to Friday, the day will kick off with a continued slight chance of showers, primarily before noon. Once the rain subsides, the weather should remain cloudy with highs hovering near 70. The evening is expected to bring in a noticeable shift, as a cold front moves in, pushing the temperatures down to the mid-40s. "The cold front arrives Friday night leaving a strong north wind," KXAN reports, adding that there may be "a few sprinkles or light rain" prior to its arrival.

The weekend will see a dramatic drop, according to National Weather Service forecasts. Saturday will be noticeably cooler, with highs struggling to break past 52 degrees amid breezy conditions. Gusts might reach upwards of 30 mph, signaling a sharp contrast to the mild weather experienced at the week's start.
Though the Saturday night sky is forecasted to clear, temperatures are set to plunge to near freezing. It's expected that wind speeds will decrease significantly, potentially bringing relief just in time for the Austin Marathon on Sunday. KXAN forecasts a nice and crisp morning for runners, with "sunrise temperatures in the middle 30s but with a wind chill that could be in the upper 20s." Following the chilly morning, Sunday afternoon should see a return to sunny skies and highs around 60 degrees.
As the new week begins, residents can look forward to warmer weather once more. Washington's Birthday will be sunny with highs back up to nearly 70 degrees, and the upward trend continues with temperatures on Tuesday likely to climb as high as 79 degrees under sunny conditions.
